Pre Game
Review
It's the last game in The Revenge Tour. Michigan has been unstoppable throughout the season. The Wolverines defeated three ranked teams; Wisconsin and Penn State at home and the Spartans on the road. They climbed the ranks to #4 and were staring down their first shot at the Big Ten Championship and a playoff bid.
They walked on the field of Buckeye Stadium with swagger and this time it was backed by some serious wins.
The Buckeyes have had a season that went basically like most of their recent seasons; win after win and runaway scores. An awkward and decisive loss against Purdue was blood in the water for the Buckeyes opponents, but the Buckeyes didn't quit.
They inched their way past Nebraska and Michigan State and nearly lost to Maryland. A one point win for the Buckeyes against a lackluster Maryland team. Michigan looked like an impossible challenge.
Then came the Game.
The Wolverines were as surprised as anyone to find themselves trailing in the first quarter.
Toward the end of the first half, Michigan was able to capitalize on two huge mistakes by the Buckeyes and bring the score within 2 points. Ohio State scored another field goal and it was 24-19 Buckeyes going into half time.
Returning from the half, Ohio State decimated Michigan in every category. The Buckeyes didn't just beat Michigan, they embarrassed Michigan.
The end result; 62-39 Buckeyes. It was the most points Michigan has allowed in regulation play in the entire history of the team. Even during the miserable Rich Rod years, Michigan didn't lose this badly to Ohio State.
And just like that, Michigan loses the Big Ten Championship bid, a playoff bid and The Revenge Tour comes to a whimpering end.
It's been a season, but it brought the fun and excitement back to Michigan football. For a brief moment, the Ohio State game finally mattered again. The loss was devastating, but it doesn't wipe away a fantastic season for the Wolverines.
