Jerry Kill retired just before the game against Michigan due to health concerns. Tracy Claeys, the assistant head coach, stepped up as interim head coach. His first game was against Michigan.

Minnesota drives the field and on a pass play scores a touchdown. On further review the play was called back to the 1/2 yard line because the players knee was down. The following play was an incomplete pass and runs the clock down to 2 seconds. On their last play Minnesota pushes forward, but the Wolverines defense pushes back and Minnesota does not score.
