Notes

Pre Game

They call it a defining moment. Why? Because it's football. Football without drama is just a bunch guys in uniform pushing each other around with more guys on the side lines yelling at them to hit harder.

Coach Harbaugh pulled off a decisive and dominating win last week against Rutgers ... but winning against Rutgers is like a kid wrestling his dad. You know who's going to win. And if by some miracle the kid does win you don't cheer the kid, you feel sorry for the dad.

Iowa is, and always has been, a tough opponent. Even the best coaches have a tough time against the Hawkeyes. This week, the Hawkeyes are ranked 14 against the #19 Wolverines. The ESPN predictor is picking Michigan. Wojo, at the Detroit Free Press, is picking Michigan. Fox Sports is picking Michigan.

And here in lies the problem.

There are always high expectations for the boys in blue and maize. The talent is there. The drive is there. When will the coaching catch up to the players?

A win this week is something to get excited about. A loss would make this a long torturous season for Michigan.

------

Today Michigan's offense looked strong in the first quarter, which happens to be the only quarter they scored any points. Defense looked strong through the entire game. Iowa's offense struggled against Michigan's defense. Overall, Michigan's D-line saved the day and took Michigan to win over a higher ranked team.
