Nothing divots our turf at Team Rivalry more than a team that deserves respect and doesn’t get it. Ohio State is the greatest team in college football history. It’s not just our opinion, it’s also Paul Finebaum’s opinion. He just won’t admit it.
If the wide world of college sports won’t give Ohio State the credit they deserve, we will. Here are 10 reasons The Ohio State Buckeyes deserve your respect, but aren’t getting your respect.
- Rankings. They’re only ranked #1 in the AP, CFP, and Coaches Poll. What? Does the FCS actually think North Dakota State can beat Ohio State?
- The National Championship. They’re calling Ohio State the defending National Champions. When Ohio State wins a national championship it’s the greatest run in football history. Not only should they be considered “The” National Champions, but the game shouldn’t be played again.
- Heisman predictions. Ohio State only has two players on every top 10 list. They’ve got 125 players on the team and only two of them are getting noticed. Are the pundits blind?
- College Football Hall of Fame. Obviously, all the great players come from Ohio State. So why isn’t it called “THE Ohio State College Football Hall of Fame”?
- Absolutely Massive Fan Base. Ohio State has the biggest fan base in the world, but other teams still have fans. How can they even look at another team knowing the massive size of the Ohio State fan base?
- Coaches. Their last three coaches have all won National Championships and only two of them have been fired. At least they weren’t suspended, like some coaches we know at a team we can’t name.
- Mascot. Wolverines, Badgers and Spartans sound tough and intimidating, but it takes real grit to make a poisonous nut your mascot.
- Stadium. It’s not shaped like a toilet bowl, it’s a horseshoe. Even if it were a toilet bowl it’s only because with every home game win the Buckeyes are flushing the crap out of Columbus.
- Rivals. Ohio State is so far off the charts they don’t even have any rivals. Ohio State has more wins, more Big Ten Championships, and more National Championships than any other Big Ten team*.
- Spelling. How many other fan bases can spell the name of their state at the drop of hat with only one other person to help?
And that’s all you really need to know.
The next time someone tries to tell you Ohio State is #1, but doesn’t reference how they’re really really #1, you can show them this list and know that you are the very first person to ever give Ohio State the respect they are entitled.
